Important Information for Guests with Special Needs

Hā‘ena State Park wishes to welcome and provide assistance to help you experience the north shore.

Parking at Hā‘ena State Park.  The park has available ADA parking spaces for those who either present Hawaii driver license / state ID or a parking reservation and who also have a valid vehicle ADA decal/placard.  All individuals in the car must also present either Hawaii ID or entry pass reservations.  The entire party may drive forward to the ADA space after confirmation of IDs, reservations and ADA decal/placard by the attendant, who will provide instructions.

If parking reservations are not available for your preferred date, you also have the option of reserving ADA-compliant shuttle roundtrip transportation from our Waipa Park & Ride.

Kaua‘i North Shore Shuttle provides American with Disabilities Act (ADA), mobility and special needs service from Waipā to Hā‘ena.  We are dedicated to meeting your needs, and will do whatever we reasonably can to accommodate you.  Please contact our transit partner and bus operator as early as possible for ADA shuttle travel assistance at 808-246-0122 extension 2.  Should you reach voicemail, please leave a message with your phone number and someone will get back to you.  Please note this number is only for ADA shuttle related inquiries or requests.  For all other requests, please email us after carefully reading our FAQ (email info at FAQ).

Please provide at least 48 hour notice to ensure appropriate ADA shuttle arrangements.

Shuttle drivers are trained to assist you (or your loved one) with your specific needs.  Our ADA shuttle has a lift and space for two standard wheelchairs or scooters.  There are some size and weight limitations to what we can accommodate so please contact us as noted above before booking your tickets to discuss your specific needs.

The Kaua‘i North Shore Shuttle accepts qualified service dogs.  A service dog may be needed for many different conditions, which would be acceptable under the ADA guidelines.  In accordance with the ADA, the Kaua‘i North Shore Shuttle does not accept “emotional support” dogs or other animals as service animals.

Every person with a challenge or disability is different and you are the best judge of any special assistance you may require.  Please let us know how we can best assist you.

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) and enjoy your visit to the beautiful north shore of Kaua‘i!
